I'm hoping this is in the right forum, if not, please move it to the proper area. I'll apologize at the beginning as this my get windy. I filed for Ch 13 bankruptcy 3/24/09. In the filing, I surrendered my negative equity home and negative equity vehicle. I am paying one leased vehicle through the plan that will end in 5/11. My current payment is $1000 (roughly 28% to unsecured). While I am married, I filed as a single filer since the debt was all mine.
Here is my dilemma: I am currently in a job that is driving me to the brink of craziness. Not really, but I'm to the point where I can't hardly take the "corporate" world anymore. I make good money, roughly $100K, that is all salary. My wife makes roughly $50K as a teacher. On paper, it appears that we're doing well.
Back to my point about my job. Honestly, I'm doing something that doesn't really appeal to me and I have been for 5 years. I'm doing it solely for the money. I have the opportunity to get into another position, however it's 100% commission. The manager I have spoken to said that average people will make $100K, below average are making $60K, above average $125K+. This job is what I would really like to do and it's my passion.
I have spoken to my attorney and she advised that this is all possible and that I would need to submit an amended plan and/or possibly convert to a Ch 7. She's taking care of all of that.
My questions for this board and members: If you work in a commission only field, how do you manage your budget? How do you apply for auto loans or home loans (obviously in the future...)? Since I have filed for BK and surrendered a home, would you advise adding one more "hiccup" on my resume with commission only income?
Any help, advise, words of wisdom would be appreciated.
