close checking account

Hi all,

I keep forgetting to ask my attorney this, though someone here may be able to answer this. Can I close a checking account. Or do I need permission first? We filed a week ago, 341 is middle of December. I don't want to keep incurring charges on this bank account, since we aren't getting anything deposited in it any more.

Ask your attorney first. If he/she says it's ok for you close the account, be prepared to explain exactly why you closed it and exactly what happened to the funds in it (if any) in case you are asked about it during your 341. Your attorney may advise you to wait to close it after your 341 - just depends on how picky your Ch 13 trustee is about closing and opening accounts that were in place on filing day, especially since you just filed.
