    got ok to buy car?

Im pasting here also since im in a 13....
So the trustee and the judge gave us permission to get a car.

WOW huh...nope so far the few places i have called wont even bother with us, We dont have extra cash to buy from a private party and been there and done that and that car needs a ton of work...My husband works far and we need a reliable dependable car..I wish we would have just kept the money instead of buying that pos car , Live and learn lesson..Our lawyer asked why we just didn't go to him in the first place..Well duh were chicken! Didnt want to shake any feathers, We have a year left and this is the first problem that has come up...Our car that we have had during the whole bankruptcy is about to die, And that crap he bought is dead.

Has anybody been able to get a loan anywhere? Im just stressing about this and tired of being told no..I haven't tried the online ones yet and haven't gave any personal info only because I didnt want it to put dings in our credit report....Just made some calls and as soon as I say bankruptcy its over....
Also how long do we have once i start the process of filling out the personal info, before it starts counting more than once on credit report?
    Thanks

Now that your lawyer is aware of your car problem, did he/she give you any advice or tips about how to proceed? Some are aware of lenders who are more friendly to Ch 13 filers. Please ask about that.

Also, staying off your trustee's radar is a good idea, but staying off your lawyer's radar is *not* a good idea. He/she is on your side. Go immediately to your lawyer whenever you are having financial issues that might impact your 13. Your lawyer can't help you if he/she doesn't know you are having problems.

Ch 13ers can get car loans, especially after four solid years in Ch 13 with no problems and ontime payments for everything you are paying yourselves directly.

However, the rates you get won't be good. Expect an interest rate in the high teens. But you will be able to get a car, and with your Ch 13 ending in less than a year, you can pay off the loan quickly. Just be sure to get a loan without early payoff penalties.

Since you are taking on new debt, your lawyer needs to contact your trustee and get permission to go loan shopping before you do so. Get your lawyer started on this right away.

You'll get a hard hit on your credit report every time a potential lender checks your credit. However, if you can bunch them together closely, the hits won't be as bad.

If you haven't taken a good look at your credit report (and most of us haven't when we're in an active Ch 13), I strongly recommend you do that to see if your active creditors on filing day are reporting all your secured accounts as IIB (included in bankruptcy) and all the active unsecured accounts are either charged off or IIB.

Good luck to you. Hope you'll be able to find a reliable car soon.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Try drive auto or santander. 18% 6 months into a 13 for me with drive. They said it would`ve been 13% if I had been in at least a year. Couldn`t wait. Needed a car asap.

It is difficult but not impossible to get a car (with permission of course) during your chapter 13. The best thing to do is to go where you obtained a vehicle in the past (i.e., Ford, GM) and had a loan through Ford Credit, GMAC, etc. that was paid on time and with which you have a good history. Do not advise the sales person on arrival that you are in Chapter 13. Go over the vehicle(s) involved and get their offer. Leave advising you want to look at other vehicles. They will more than likely call you back with a lower price or you can contact them back if you have not seen anything else you can afford. If you like the deal and prior to giving your SS# or signing anything, THAT is the time you talk to their finance manager about being in your Chapter 13 with permission to obtain a loan. You have a better chance of getting a loan with a place where you had prior good credit that with a place that has no good history on you.

We obtained a new car loan in 4/06 with GMAC with 0% interest as we qualified for their promotional rate at that time. We were not discharged until 8/06. We have two prior paid off in good standing car loans with GMAC.
