We are filing Ch 13 - What would anyone do differently now looking back?

    First thing i did before filing 13 was to consult a few more attorneys. I'd been told by 3 attys that I could "only" file 13 given my situation. Then heard about a guy that was "the" BK atty in my area; went to him, he all but talked ME in to filing ch 7. Yes, there were issues, and it wasn't an easy thing. And I know nothing about your situation at all. My advice is just make sure that you don't have another option. I thank my lucky stars every day that I'm not sitting under the thumb of the court and trustee making payments for 5 years.

      Ditto to what others have said about making sure you have good vehicles. We did not do that and are now paying the price: 2 cars with over 140,000 miles and one that is about dead. I have no idea what we'll do until the end of the plan.

        yeah- I have to wonder that waiting a few years and THEN filing 7.
