    help 341 question

I hope someone can give me some advice. I have my 341 on October 22nd. I just got a letter from my trustee telling me what I need to bring with me to the meeting. Here is where I have a problem. He is asking for my tax returns from the last 3 years. My computer crashed about 2 years ago, and being a fool I had not backed up my tax returns to a hard copy. I only have my 2007 and 2008 returns. If I show up with only 2 years of returns what will be the ramifications?

    Any help would be appreciated.

You can call the IRS and ask them to fax your past tax transcripts....or they can mail them to you it takes 10 days via mail. Go to the IRS website and in the FAQS it tell you the number to call to request past returns. The transcripts are free.

Right on Isabella. I too was to suggest this. I would also ask for the previous year as well just in case. 'Hub

Thank you for your responses. Does that mean I just have to bring the transcript and dont have to pay $57 dollars for the copy?

This is just my opinion - when the Trustee asks for something - give it to them!

If it is going to cost you $57 to get a copy of your tax return from the IRS, I would head on down to your local office and get that copy right away. Don't mess with the trustee.

I am not an attorney. None of my advice is legal advice in any way..

The transcript is all you need.

I was also required to provide my state tax returns. If needed, you should be able to call your state revenue department and ask how to get a copy or transcript. In my case they had an office close to where I was where I could go in and they printed me off copies at no charge.

The transcripts are free, a copy of your return is $57 and takes up to 60 days to get. Ask your attorney a transcript should be fine, it was for me.
