Amex Corporate Card in Chapter 13

    Hi-

I am looking for any feedback as to whether Amex has approved a Corporate Card while in a 13. Laying out cash for my business expenses may start to be an issue soon.

    Thanks for any feedback.

I believe the business needs to fully guarentee the card for you to be approved. That is becoming less common these days.

Newbie here and vey first post.

I have a similar problem. My wife and I just filed and the company I have worked for the past 34 years requires employees to charge all company expenses through our AMEX Corporate cards. Travel, blackberry, hotels, etc. I'm really concerned that this could put my job in jeporady. Also pretty embarrased about having to file as I have a loan through my credit union as well.

I did not realize that I had to list my employers corporate card and am going to discuss with our attorney this afternoon. Our 341 meeting is scheduled for October 28, in Calif. Any info or advise would be much appreciated.

I have no idea the answer to your question. I just saw the title and wanted to comment. BASTARDS.

I had a corp card, 3 personal cards, and charged and paid 10's of thousands for years. And then they suddenly cut my lines and triple my interest because of the economy. So I repead BASTARDS.

AmEx is well-known as unfriendly to those who file bk. My guess is that if you apply while you are in a Ch 13 and your company does not guarantee the card, you'll have a hard time being approved.

The good news is that almost every company with employees that frequently travel has options for situations like yours - hopefully yours is one of these. You aren't the only person who ever worked there who has financial problems or a poor credit rating.

Some companies have a 'staff' credit card that a secretary uses to book your travel. Other companies have a miscellaneous cash fund to either pay for your travel directly or that you can apply to for advance funds before each trip. Worst case scenario is you may have to build up sufficient cash to pay for your travel until the company reimbursement comes through - I hope it doesn't come to that.

If you apply for the AmEx card and it's denied, then work with your company to sort out what can be done. There's a way out of this - be patient and work through the options. Good luck!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Thanks for the comments. I just noticed an email where my comapny states you must use the Amex for business travel unless you are denied on your amex application. Then you can use a personal card. I need to talk to them, but, not sure yet what will come of it. Maybe I'll drive to my clients and sleep in the car
