Finally got recommended for confirmation...weird story attached..

So, at our initial 341 mtg, our plan was to pay 790 a month for 36 months. The trustee's employee (we never saw the trustee) that swore us in and did the meeting said that the plan could not be recommended because of A) we were paying directly and the trustee requires payroll deduction and B) some of our expenses were too high and they wanted it cut down.

So basically, we were to rework the plan to pay MORE money and have it automatically deducted. This was on 8/24.

Since then, I got unofficially "let go" from my job. Not OFFICIALLY, but the hospital did not put me on the next 6 week schedule..which would leave me with no income. I am an optional (or as needed) employee. I only work when there is a need. Usually, I can find 40 hours a week to work, but they are cutting all optional staff. So I ended up finding another job with LESS pay the week after the first 341. Even though its less pay, its guaranteed hours..and guaranteed paycheck.

So, I sent the info and new pay decrease to the attorney and reworked the plan. She was sort of worried because the Trustee was counting on us paying more, but with my decrease in income, we would be paying less...so she had to extend it from 36 to 48 months at 700 a month.

She took this plan to the second 341 today and they recommended it for confirmation Yeah, I would have liked to have been done in 36 months, but 48 is fine. We can live with it.

I'm so happy that stage is over and now we are just waiting for the confirmation to be official. I believe its Oct 27th.

Slowly and Surely...we are getting through this.
    $124,000 unsecured debt
    $700 a month for 36 months.
Case completed 6/15/12, waiting on papers!

newbie here, think this is the first 48 month plan I have seen on here. All others have been 36 or 60 months. Good luck on the new job!

Does it ever really make sense to a trustee?!

Do you fall under the median for your family and state? I do and it say's here on the U.S. Courts website.
The applicable commitment period must be three years if current monthly income is less than the state median for a family of the same size
. I want to do 36, but my attorney filled out a plan for 5 years. We go in Monday to finalize the plan, but if I can go 36 I'm going to try!
