Just filed & mortgage info removed! :(

    Hi all -

My husband and I just filed this week. When I went onto the Chase website, our mortgage account had been removed along with our credit card accounts. Now it makes perfect sense that the credit card accounts were gone - but why the mortgage account? In the past we were able to access it there and make payments, etc.

I'm really worried about this and their customer service center is, of course, closed for the weekend. Is this a bad sign that they are trying to mess with our mortgage (we are and have been current, though our last payment was 7 days late and it was made on the day we filed for BK)?

Any input on this would be MUCH appreciated

    Thank you!

No, your account has just been moved to a different branch of Chase. I have a Wells Fargo Mortgage, banking, etc., and when I filed I was given a new phone number and address for all correspondence. You will also have to mail in your mortgage payments, no more online and/or branch payments

      Ditto to liz417,

When I filed both my mortgages were/are current and I paid them online but after filing I no longer had access and now have to mail in payments. Make sure you put your account number on each check along with the month each payment is for. Make sure you use carbon copy checks or at least keep every bank statement to show when the check clears each month.

      Done!!! - 01 Jul 2014 I'm free!! Discharged 9/23/14!

So does this explain why I have not received a bill from Fifth Third on my equity flex line this month? I contacted them by online message and the response was "contact the BK department."
I filed CH13 with mortgage paid outside the plan. Is that what they are likely to tell me to just send a check to a new address? Also it is a variable payment according to how many days in a month. And if the interest goes up it will raise the payment. I still have at the moment online access but statements for the account have never been available but the ledger is.
        Does anyone know about this?
        Thanks

It is common to drop the online stuff. My CU did this and I am a 45 year member. Once I reaffirmed, I got that privilege back.

The accounts are still there. The CC's may be locked but keep paying the mortgage if you wish to ride through or reaffirm. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

Yes. I was told by both of my mtg companies (BOA and HSBC) that I would not be receiving statements for the duration of the 13. I will get my tax info at the end of each year though.

Question: I pay my bills online through my bank Wells Fargo. My mortgage is through Countrywide/BofA. Will I still be able to pay them this way? I don't go through BofA's website to pay. We have never been late with this account.

I would assume so because I use WF bill pay to pay my auto loans that I no longer have online payment options while in BK. With the mortgage, I KNOW that it goes to a different address (the BK dept), so I would call BofA and make sure the address is the same, you don't want to be charged a late fee because the payment went to the wrong address!

Chase did that to me too. I get a paper "statement is for informational purposes only" statement each month. I still pay them through my bank's online bill pay.

You can call 800-848-9136 to make a payment by phone.

I have Wamu/Chase, no online access. I pay to the BK dept. I wanted to use my bank's bill pay, but it wasn't an electronic payment, it was mailed. So I opted to pay myself with the USPS. I mail it out Priority mail, this gives me a tracking number. Citi is our second mortgage. This I send to the same address as before and I use my bank's bill pay. Citi also stopped online access. Both mail me "info" online statements. We are on our 3 month of payments since we filed, no problems. I hate losing online access, but hopefully once this is over we will get it back again. We are not reaffirming, so I hope they will allow access. Current on both mortgage now and before we filed. (These were the 2 bills we never missed and we never late on since we bought our home 10 yrs ago)

Why does it matter if it's paid by bill pay via electronic or check? I know check takes a few days longer, but while Chase has removed online access you can get account info including payment due and date of last payment via the customer service number on your statement. Bill pay has some sort of guaranty about payments made through the system usually.

Just curious, it would save you the $ paid to send priority mail.

Oh, and for curiosity's sake, I checked and discovered the pay by phone option for Chase charges $15. Yikes. But if close to being late I guess it's worth it to pay $15 than the consequences of being late.
