How bad is it to cash out the retirement to avoid BK?

I wish we wouldn't have pulled the $35K we did from the 401K. We ended up with an even larger tax bill than I had predicted and it was only a temporary measure to keep us afloat. We should have filed then and protected that money. Live and learn...but if you can learn from us, do it

Another live and learn for us too. We pulled out my retirement to try and stay afloat, but in the end we still had to file for BK. Had I not done this I would still have that money.....
