I spoke in detail with USAA yesterday. The vehicles have been removed from the website and insurance is not being renewed after discharge. I will not have any services from them for a period of 7 years. At least they will allow me to return after that point.

All credit accounts I had, aside from Sam's Club, have been closed which is understandable. But, one charge card I had, was already closed and I was in a repayment plan with them.

The motive for my filing was due to the ex-wife not refinancing per the judgement of divorce and her defaulting on joint accounts. My BK attorney did included the Marital Separation Agreement and Judgement of Divorce with the BK filing. I am equally responsible for the debts however with her being in contempt of the court order, it's a very large, difficult pill to swallow.

You all are great and reading other experiences gives me comfort knowing I am not alone through all this. Thank You.

Are you filing ch 13 or 7. Just curious why USAA would take that stance and close all your accounts. Were you deliqeunt on your insurance payments, by chance?

I filed ch13 one week ago today. I know USAA received notification because they deleted my credit card which I included in the filing. I logged in earlier this week and saw that it is no longer an account I can view online. However, I can view all my other accounts, banking, insurance, 529 college.

Not sure if the type of chapter filed has anything to do with my abilities to keep my accounts which are in good standing and view them online.

I have had this credit card for 7 years and have always paid it on time. I did not include it in the filing and was hoping to retain it as it is my only remaining account open. Also, my Sam's Club credit account was closed though there is a negative balance in it.

I am confused. I re-organized my debt and am paying it back but yet all my accounts are being closed. Any thoughts or experiences?
I don't know if it varies from district to district, but when I filed my now-discharged 'old law' Chapter 13 in 2005, not including (and closing) ANY creditor was tantamount to bankruptcy fraud. It wasn't up to me: if I decided to file BK, I HAD TO CLOSE ALL CREDIT ACCOUNTS!

        Debit card.

Even most car rental companies now accept debit cards, with a commensurate 'hold' of funds. As early as two years ago -- while still in my Chapter 13 -- I used a debit card uneventfully on a month-long rental from a national company necessitated by an accident/repair. Even though I have a pair of credit cards now, I rarely use them because debit cards have become so widely accepted.
