I too am in the Pittsburgh area. My 60 months were up the first week of June which is when I visited my attorney. My "scheduled" closing date is Sept 4th. (not sure of why a 3 month delay) Even though my plan base was met 1st week of June, my attorney said there's nothing we can do until the closing date. After becoming slightly irate with him he told me we could petition to stop wage attachments but it's highly discouraged and could delay my discharge. I decided to have the attorney mail me the papers to sign to stop the wage attachments and the notations he made on the form made me sound like a raging lunatic. Needless to say I did not submit the forms out of fear of somekind thinking it will delay my discharge. Am I being to paranoid about this?

I don't think the court really understands how people feel when it is time for discharge. Like I stated in my post I felt absolutely stuck. I couldn't go forward and I couldn't go backward and I couldn't do anything until the discharge was granted. However once that discharge was granted, things moved real quick. So all I can say is hang in there. It will come. At least you made it to then end.

I'm sure it really does not matter to the court how people feel while awaiting a discharge. There are at least 2 people, including me, from the same region, posting on the same thread, awaiting their discharge at the same time. There are probably several hundred people in the same boat. As I posted earlier, I did get my wage deduction payments stopped. I am in a 100% plan and I think that would make a big difference. I'm most anxious, because based on my personal audit I could be getting a decent sum of money back. I am curious though, what is a "closing date" that is a little over a month in the future. The correspondance that I have received from my attorney as well as the trustee both say that my account is pending a final audit for completion. Neither mentioned a "closing date" and I have not found one on PACER or the trsustees website.

Be persistent with both the trustee and your attorney
ShackledinPA,
Be persistent with the trustee -- you can send them an email with your information and request the payments to stop asap and process your case to close. I had a very similar situation this past year and my case was scheduled to close October 2008. Wage attachment stopped at the end of November; and then in June was was complete. Still waiting on the final discharge paperwork.
Good luck!

Would anyone happen to know how long it typically takes for chap 13 case to close? I'm going on month 63 of a 60 month plan and have heard nothing from the trustee yet. I've contacted my attorney and continuously told to be patient. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
