Does anyone have advice on what to do when you make the choice to stop paying and what you do with the money while you are saving for your attorney?

Send the attorney payments. I imagine if you asked they would let you. This way you are not hiding money and don't carry a large amount in a bank acct. The attorney fees go on your petition.
Once we made the decision that filing was best for us, we quit paying, our attorney advised us to. We hired an attorney and paid him in full, we did not file for another 1 1/2 yrs., mostly cold feet on my part, finally having a judgment against us pushed me.Last edited by justplaintired; 07-25-2009, 06:39 PM.Filed Chapter 7 June 4 ~ 341 July 20 ~Last day of objections Sept 18~Discharged/Closed Sept 21

If the attorney is already paid, use that money to take care of important things you may have neglected. Dental care, eye glasses, life insurance, stocking the pantry, etc.
Save if you can, within the exemptions allowed in your area, and plan for the future. You will be in need of that money at some point, and will be well served if you can find a place to put it that is outside the eyes of creditors, but within the law.11-20-09-- Filed Chapter 7
