    "voluntary" lease payments?

I'm hoping someone may be able to answer this for me...

We recently filed - have not had creditor meeting yet. Our atty told us our car with the loan would be paid inside the plan and the car with the lease would be paid outside. I got that part...

When I went to pay the lease online, a message came up that said I could make an online payment and that "voluntary payments could be mailed to..." I called them and they explained that it was normal for people in BK to lose online access (I don't know why)... But I could not get a straight answer about what voluntary meant.

    Does anyone know?
    Thanks!

As soon as you file none of your creditors can demand any type of payment. This includes secured creditors that you intend to keep paying. If you want to keep the property you need to keep paying (or have the payment included in your plan), however, they can not ask you to pay. That is why the payment is considered voluntary.

Many companies will take away online access, some will not.

Thank you very much for that answer. So if the payments are "voluntary," if at some point we find that the payments are too high for us to continue paying, can we just stop making the payments and give the car back?

BK, the post you responded to here was a forum spammer with a spam link in their signature and a distinct lack of English skills . I cleaned out the spammer's post and permanently banned him/her. Problem solved.
