For the first two and a half years after we filed, our trustee would take our personal checks that were dropped off at his office - no worries about the check getting lost in the mail....lol! However, about six months ago our trustee changed his mailing address to a PO box out of state, so that's when I switched to making the payments electronically. The changeover went smooth as silk.
Bottom line - how Ch 13 payments can be made is absolutely an individual trustee preference, and we were very lucky that our trustee is reasonable. A trustee can choose to severely restrict the ways they will accept payments and there's little you can do about it.
In very unusual cases who have very unusual circumstances, some filers have petitioned the court to make payments in a way their trustee usually doesn't allow. If the reason is compelling, usually the judge will rule that the payment exception be made by the trustee. But this is very rare.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
