Having the vehicle towed could cause more problems. In Nevada, you would end up responsible for the towing charges and storage charges. This is if you are the registered owner of the vehicle - I am not sure about other state's laws regarding this.

I have a suggestion that may work. Call around and web search for "car donation services". Some will take your vehicle running or not - and give you a receipt that they took your vehicle - so that you can write off the donation from your taxes. Make sure you ask the representative specifically about the situation you are in regarding the CR leinholder though.

The charity that you donate the car to will fix it - and get the title clear - so that they can sell it or give it to a needy individual to drive.

Well, I had the car towed to one of the CU branches today. The AAA driver just parked in in the parking lot. I didnt have a key. I already did the bill of sale online with the DMV and transfered back to the CU. I didn't feel the need to go into the branch or call them since they own the car and would NOT come get it. DO you think I was right, or should I make contact with them???

Sassie, what will you do if the CU insists they didn't ever get the car? You have no proof you left it there. Did you let your lawyer know what you planned to do?

It's always best to go in and get a signed receipt that you delivered the car to them so you don't get caught in the "we never received our asset from the debtor" trap. Go back tomorrow, make sure the car is still there, and get the CU to sign that they are at the very least aware the car is now in their parking lot and you are surrendering it to them. Also if you didn't talk to your lawyer about this, be sure to let him/her know what you did right away.

I get what you are saying. But, hey what if someone stole the car right off of my driveway? I mean, it's worth nothing. They said it wasn't worth their time to come get it. I don't even think they give a dang! But, I get what you are saying. I will go by again tomorrow and call my lawyer just to be sure...thanks for lookin' out lrprn.
