Well, we had our creditors meeting today. We were last of 6 couples in the room. After sitting through the first few I realized one question the Trustee was asking may pose a problem for us. He asks if you have waived rights to an inheritance or settlement blah blah blah. My husband actually did in 2007. So, we had to disclose that to the Trustee. It was only a fourth of a $17K life insurance policy. But, he did forfeit it. Also, we were the finally up after the other couples and there was one lawyer in the corner who didn't seem to be representing anyone. My husband told me, he was probably the lawyer representing Chrysler. But in the end, he did not speak up on behalf of any of our creditors. So, yeah, 10 minutes and the 341 meeting was over. It went pretty smooth. Im so happy about that. We do have to send in a copy of the paperwork for my husband's, father's policy fromhis death benefit. It may or may not affect our BK. So far so good though!

When myhusband's father passed away, it was sudden. He was still working. When it was revealed that he had no beneficiary established on one policy through his company, the kids(husband and sbilings) decided his father would have wanted his wife to have it. I didn't agree however, they didn't want to fight over $17K. It just wasn't worth it! My husband's step-mother asked them to sign-off on it and they did with no questions. He didn't leave much and she is only 65 so, there ya go.....We'll see if it poses any problems with our case. I sure hope not. We could have easily said no to the question, but I guess that would have been dishonest....
