Did I Make the Right Desicion

First off I would like to say Hello All...I am new to your community

I just filed Ch 13 on April 11, 2009. I just came back from my 341 meeting today.

I wanna know am I going to regret the decision I made. "Is there Life After Bankruptcy?"

I am a young single mother (29) with a ton of identity theft....therefore most of the debt I have was not incurred by me. I have tried disputing them...but it is so time consuming and very hard.

Can some of you guys give me some insight on what I should expect...or if I should expect anything at all?

Bless your heart. What a horrible situation.

My family is only just now entering bk so I personally know what it will be like afterward, but cutting out the debt payments alone has given us a whole lotta peace and freedom.

You can expect to budget, budget, budget! Save every chance you get, as unexpected expenses will come up, it's not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when" and "how much".

I don't regret my CH 13 for a minute. Every month I now get closer to getting out of my debt hole, instead of digging my way deeper trying to rob Peter to pay Paul to cover those minimum payments. I drive a clunker car, don't live the high life, but also have savings and live well below my means for the 1st time in my life.

This must be really galling to be in this position paying for 60 months for debts you didn't rack up yourself, so maybe your philosophy won't be the same, but I am so happy to be able to have filed. Best of luck to you!

Thanks you guys....I am kinda nervous...but I guess that it can only get better from here. For me to be so young and never having good credit really sucked. And I do need to learn how to budget. I don't live beyond my means...but i am sure i do my share of frivolous spending. I don't have many monthly bills besides rent, insurance, daycare and utilities. I was able to put my parking tickets, student loans, and those horrible payday loans in my 13 which was a good thing. I just hope all goes well. I know the very first thing I need to do when this is all done is buy a dependable car....cuz mine is beyond a junker!

Hey, can you get a new SSN? I wonder because I talked to a girl that had a similar thing happen. She said something about getting a new SSN. I don't know how she would do that, but it seems to me that if an Identity theft victim can prove they have been victimized, they should be able to get a new number, just my $0.02

I feel the same way....and I actually researched that idea a biti some years ago. What I found out was that in order for you to be issued a new SS# you would have to in a federal witness protection program for some reason.
