We plan on filiing Chapter 13 in late summer. Would there be an issue if I decided to change jobs before filing. Currently I commute almost 1.5 hours each way to work. I'm paid well (70k+ overtime), but the drive is taking its toll on me. Jobs in the area I live pay much less (about half to 3/4 quarters what I currently make). If I was able to find a job near my home would it become an issue that I took a paycut? Has anyone had experience with this? My husband and I currently make about the same salary so even with a 50% pay cut we are well over the median for our area so Chapter 13 is our only option. I am not considering this as a means to get out of doing a Chapter 13. I just don't know if I'll make if another 5 years.

I was going to take a job, moved out of my homestead into a rental. I then had to file Bankruptcy 16 days later. Then, my new prospective employer closed the job position due to the economy. So, I never landed the new job. The new job was substantially les too (20% or so), than my current job.
Yes, you can move and even change your job, even if it's less money. I'm unsure if a Trustee would ever ask why you switched jobs, but your answer is simple... 3 hours of commuting erach day.Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
