money in bank day of 341

From what I've read here, you have to let the trustee know how much money you have in the bank the day of your 341 meeting. How do you show that, do you just call the banks and get a balance as of that day or do I need to go to each bank and have a written balance for proof? Thanks again

I'm sorry, but I do not remember being asked that. I would not worry about this. Do you have direct deposit? If money, how is it there and what is it earmarked for? That would be easy to explain. And No I would not answer that question as if I were asked, I would simply tell the Trustee, at this time, I do not know as I have checks outstanding and I did not check online. PERIOD. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

I may be wrong here, but I thought they wanted to know how much you had in the bank on the day you file for bk.

You need to know approximately what's in each account on filing day because your lawyer has to list the amount on your forms when your 13 is filed.

Most trustees look at what's on your forms before your 341. You'll be asked about account balances during your 341 if the trustee has a question about them, but that rarely happens.

How much you can have in your account(s) on filing day depends on your state's bk exemptions. Some states allow more cash to be on hand than others. Also it depends on what else you are trying to protect with your bk exemptions as well.

We went online and got a printout of our accounts from our bank's website before we filed. In our case, we were never asked to prove that was actually what was in our account on filing day. But we could have if we had been asked
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

We had to have a bank statement for the month of filing and something from the bank showing the balance for the day we filed. We were able to submit a print out from the bank that I got online.

          Good luck.
Filed - 12/24/08 (Merry Christmas Credit Cards!)
          341 - 2/5/09
          Confirmation - 3/13/09....Happy Dance!!!

I didn't have to show the bank statements the day of filing, but I think every district is different. The best person to ask is your attorney, they are aware of how your Trustee does things.
