I have traveled many times since filing for CH 13. Never needed a credit card for car rental, hotel room, or plane ticket, just my debit card. I was totally dependent upon my credit cards before filing, and can't believe how I've never had need of one since filing, but it's true. I think there are things to be said for building credit post CH 13, but believe it or not, a lot of people don't use credit, and businesses are still ok with finding ways to take their $.
    Filed CH 13 September 17, 2007
Plan Modified July 8, 2009 from $1100/month to $400/month due to change in income, finally discharged in July of 2013!

trustee rules are different from state to state, so are the differences in the what companies take debit cards. I used Enterprise rental exclusively pre Ch13. But afterwards when I wanted to used debit card they said they would need to automatically hold $500 on it. This in addition to the normal $100 over what the rental charge would be. I also would have take all the insurance. All the other rental places wanted the same thing.

I tell you I wish I had a secured credit card then. I don't have the disposable income to keep close to a $1000 on hold to rent a car. I have also found this out for Hotels also. Twice I have booked a hotel on line with my visa debit card only to find out at check in time that since its a debit they would automatically hold $100 for security and incidentals plus an immediate 25% of the stay would be charged right away also. Of course there is no debit procedures link anywhere on these peoples' web sites.

My trustee allows us to get new debt up to a certain limit. If I could find a decent secured credit card I would do it. Ok, sorry for the venting!
      May 2008: Filed Chapter 13
Jan 2010: Plan Amended and Confirmed! finally plan funds = total funds due!
Jul 2013: 5 years done! Trustee set to discharge! Woo hoooo!
