Going to get attorney tommorow

Well, looks like I will be going to meet an attorney tommorow and probably retain them. I am going to try to file CH 13 as I hope to be able to keep some of my assets. I really took a step back the last few weeks as I have been lurking around this forum for sometime now, I examined my life and came to this conclusion......file now and have a fresh start within the next 5 years or keep pulling my hair out and killing myself to try to make ends meet until I retire. I'm 32 and I'm not proud to have to file bankruptcy or face the fact that I can't pay bills that I am responsible for but I am proud to say that no matter how this turns out credit cards and credit card debt will no longer be a part of my life. I know there will be bumps on the road and will keep everyone here updated as to what is happening and I'm sure I will have questions. Thank you all for your past help as well as any future help that you may give, this has been the best forum I have ever joined.

You sound just like us when we finally decided to file. It has been the best thing that we ever did. He is 36 and I am 31 and we did not want to be buried by our debt. We will be done in less than 5 years. We should have done this at least a year ago. We just thought that we could make it through somehow. Then things happened and we were put farther in the hole. There is something to be said about going to bed at night knowing that you can pay for whatever is going to come your way tomorrow. It is a long road with hard lessons learned, but in the end it is worth it.

Thanks for the kind words and support. met attorney today and it went really well. She said I make to much for Ch 7 which I knew so it's gonna be a Ch 13 for me. I have to pay her the rest of her fees then we can sit down and come up with a budget. She was really nice and very informative. She says it looks like I can keep all of my stuff including the boat. She also said the Ch 13 trustee for my area is pretty laid back and I should have no problems. I will say this though, it was nice to have found this forum because when I went in there I was prepared and almost everything she told me I have already found out on this site. Awesome! Thanks
