Broncho, if you dont mind me asking, how much did you have in cc debt because of gambling? My husband and I both did it and we owe around 145,000 now. Thanks for all the posts...

help, you didn't say at first that your cc debt was due to gambling, so I just thought you were asking about it as a fun night out.

If you are that much in debt due to gambling, both of you need to get to some sort of gambling counseling and go immediately because you obviously still want to gamble.

You are kidding yourself if you think you are going to take a "little" money and go have some fun!

You are only not going now because you have no money. You need to lick this problem because when this is over and you do have some money again, you are going to be looking at BK number 2.

I had over $80,000 in cc debt. Some of that was medical, some was taking care of my dad, and some of it was stupid spending on wants instead of needs. I would estimate that $30,000 was gambling debt. Please don't go to the casino and please get some help. You can beat this demon. I am not even a year into not gambling but I can tell you that my life is so much better. I am receiving counseling. GA works for a lot of people. I had a bad experience with it due to my confidentality being broken. However, I sought counseling elsewhere and it does work. We have a disease but the good news is that it is treatable. However, we have to want to be treated. Their are several options out there and you have to find what best fits you. I cannot go to the casino and set a limit. I cannot go just for fun. I was not made that way. It is a flaw that I have. The way to win is not to go. I have rediscovered myself and I have rediscovered who I really am. Please don't go out and gamble. Chapter 13 is hard enough without having a gambling problem.

We actually talked are issues out tonight and we have decided to go to GA. I appreciate everyones feedback and you are right, I know deep in my heart that if we did go, we would keep going, so I promise to myself and to everyone out there, I will not go and we will get some help to make sure we dont, not even for fun. Thanks again

I wish you the best of luck. It is not easy but it sounds like you do know that you have a problem and that is the first step. I have good days and I have bad days but it is getting better. Again, best wishes to you.

Just don't go back. I know that's easier said than done. It's like a cocaine addict saying just one more line. I hope you overcome that addiction. I think if I allowed it, I could easily become a compulsive gambler. That's why I don't allow myself to go into casino's or the like. Just stay away! Good Luck to you all!
