    Pre/Post credit counceling

Is there a charge for that?

Pre-filing counseling has a charge. Some lawyers include this in their fees and give you a "code" to go to some website, or you can do it in their office. (Those are the really good law firms... but are probably considered BK mills...)

For post-filing (pre-discharge) counseling, many Trustee's offices have FREE classes. You can also pay for it from an approved agency. Again, some good law firms have this included in their fees.

My pre counseling cost $50 and I did it on line and got my certificate the next day via email.

Our pre-counseling cost us $35.00 each for 'Hub and I, and we went and spent about 45 minutes going through our paperwork with a counselor. We had been trying for a Ch.13, but this counselor is the one that told us that we were better suited to a Ch.7.

After the 341, we both took an online course that took about an hour. Then we had to call a telephone number, answer a feedback survey, and give the attorney information so that the compnay could fax our certificates. I do not remember what--if anything--the charge for this was. It may have been included in our attorney fees, as it was a firm that the attorney recommended.
