    Automobile Question

My wife and I are planning to file a BK13 in early 2009. We are both in need of more fuel efficient automobiles and plan on getting two new vehicles in the next 60 days or so. Will a Trustee care about this?

It's actualy reccomended by most BK attorney's that you do this prior to filing a 13. 5 years is a long time for an old car.
    Filed Chapter 13 05/23/08
Converted to Chapter 7 Jan 2012
    Discharged April 2012

Actually, our bk attorney *recommended* that we replace my truck (1995 with 240k miles), with a newer car to make it through the 5 year repayment plan. You'll be paying the auto(s) outside the plan and make sure you have at least a couple of payments under your belt before you file.

      Good Luck!

Yes, get yourself a good working car now! I have a 2007 and a 2003. However, my 2003 is an SUV and doesn't have many miles on it, nor is it driven alot (gas guzzling V8!).
        Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10

Hopefully you won't have a hard time finding financing. I was given the same advice and even turned down by the lowest of the low car dealers. Very depressing. Wish I would have thought about it a while before I started to think about filing but it felt really wrong.
