My husband and I were looking at our local county property tax website today and realized that we forgot to pay the taxes (about $190) on one of our cars last year. The taxes were due 12/31/08 and we have not received a single letter of delinquincy or anything. We were even allowed to renew the car tags in March with no notice of our oversight. We had no idea we didn't pay them and because we didn't realize this they were not listed as a debt in our ch 13 paperwork. What should we do? Just pay them or go through our attorney?

If you have the money, I would suggest just paying them. It would cost you more for you to have the plan amended to include them if you are already confirmed. If you can't pay them, see if you can set up payments through the state.Filed Chapter 13 05/23/08

hey kornellred,
Here in Florida there is no state income tax... so everyone pays a bunch of other taxes, like personal property tax. I have to admit... seems odd. But I've been here almost 18 years, and when we first moved calculated the differences. It was much less expensive here than in michigan at the time. (Not sure about now, though!)Filed 10/11/08 - 341 11/23/08 - Discharged 1/26/09
