Hubby filed chapter 13 a few months ago. I could not file at that time because my stepfather cosigned on my car. AMEX is getting ready to put a lien on my house any minute so I discussed it with my stepfather and he said to go ahead and file. I made him fully aware it would show up on his credit and he isn't concerned. Their home is paid for and they only have utility bills.
So I am filing a 13 this week. We are 2 months behind on mortgage. Before, when hubby filed, the attorney said several times to keep the mortgage current, which we have until now. Tomorrow I will make one payment and the other was due Sept 1st but paralegal told me there was no grace period when filing.
How do they figure a $1200 payment into a 5 yr plan? The paralegal said if the attorney said to get it current, then do it. If I don't, it would hurt my credit if I ever wanted to refinance @@
My credit is ruined just by filing. How can it be any worse if I add one mortgage payt to the plan?
Any thoughts or advice? Thanks.
