How Much Time Did Your Attorney Take?

Originally posted by bcvw View PostWell here it is, almost two weeks past our intended filing date and my attorney still has not come through. I waited to contact him again as he said previously that he was running a week behind and I gave him the benefit of his word. When I spoke to him this time, he said he would call me at the end of last week with a firm date. At that time I told him that I was getting 5 to 6 calls a day at work and really wanted him to fulfill his obligation to me. He said that because creditors were calling at work, he'd move me up to the top of the cue. Hmmmm... Anyway, he didn't call me with a date.
I'm beginning to question my choice in attorneys now.
He answered his own phone on the first ring.
I announced my name and there was this long, awkward pause. He knew why I was calling and seemed a bit embarrassed when he finally said something. I asked if he was short-handed and he said that was the case. Too many people filing these days and he's not been able to keep up. He even asked if I knew of any paralegals looking for work as he'd like to hire them. He said he was being bombarded with phone calls from other clients who'd call on a daily basis thinking it would help their case along and with calls from new clients. It seems to me it's time for him to shut the phone off for a few hours (or days!) and catch up before taking new clients.
He indicated he was expecting to file for us this week, but couldn't promise. He said we were near the top of the list in priority.
I'm becoming very impatient.Filed CH13 12/31/08, abandoned March 09 after losing job.
Ch7 Filed March 2010. 341 Meeting April 2010. Discharge and Case Closed July 2010.
