I was involved in a hit and run accident back in April. I didn't get any info on the vehicle. My plate ended up lost in the accident. Appears they ended up with my plate number. Now their insurance company is trying to collect for the damages. Unfortunately there was a lapse in my insurance on the day that this happened so I have no insurance company info to supply the insurance company that is trying to collect for damages. They are saying that based off their investigation they determined it was my fault. Basically it is something that I would have to pay back if I cannot prove that it was not my fault. I obviously do not have the money to pay this. My plan was just confirmed in July and didn't include this in my plan because I just found out about this. Is there a way to now have this included since my plan is already confirmed?

Who hit and ran?
If it was them, why are they contacting you?
The only advice I can offer... and this is apples to oranges - is my hsuband was injured one the ONE DAY we were between health insurance - and there is a stipulation that you are still covered within so much time .... maybe auto insurance works the same way?
Good luck... I'm sure this is very stressful...

Who ran into the back of who? If your plate was lost in the accident, sounds like someone hit you in the rear. Were the police called? Is there a police report on the matter? Anytime there is an accident with property damage, you need to call the police for a report because it is usually required by your insurance company if the damage is over a few hundred dollars. If the other party hit you and took off, why on earth would they contact you? I am getting the feeling that you hit them and took off because you did not have insurance and now are stuck because they obtained your plate number. If I am wrong, please explain. In this situation, you may need to have the matter arbitrated by your State Insurance Dept. with the other insurance company if that is possible if you were between insurance companies at the time of this accident. If you didn't have insurance you may need legal representation if this was not your fault. You first need to find out if you were insured at all by the "lapsed" insurance company and then take it from there. Sounds like you are being set up to be sued. Without further explanation by you of this situation which to me is confusing because you can't determine who hit who, there is not too much anyone can tell you._________________________________________

To the original poster: I would go and see your lawyer immediately and show him all the paper work. If the police were called, I would go and get a police report. Even if the police were not called, I would check to see if there is a olice report.Golden Jubilee was a year-long celebration held every 50 years in which all bondmen were freed, mortgaged lands were restored to the original owners, and land was left fallow: Lev. 25:8-17
