Just wanted to share some good news with you all.
We have been looking for an apartment/townhome for a few weeks. Been turned down flat by a few apartment complexes, so I concentrated on private renters/realtors. Found a listing a week and a half ago on Craigslist.
Townhome of our dreams...3 levels, finished basement, fully furnished, fenced in patio area, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. Our dogs are OK as well. It's in a condo development, so most around us own their condos and don't rent.
I was up front with the realtor that called me back initially, explaining that we were in Cpt 13 BK, but had extremely stable and well paying jobs with a good history before our bad mortgage decision (and some of the ol' living above our means) threw us into this situation. She said that they've had to relax their guidelines a bit due to alot of people in the same situation.
Anyway, we went to see the place today, and it's great! Put down a partial deposit with the application. She called us this afternoon and told us we were approved!!! YAY!!
No extra deposit or anything!! I can't tell you what a relief it is. Best part is it's about 3 miles away from my husbands job (making it a 6 mi round trip instead of a 40 mile round trip per day), and about a mile from my co-worker's house, so we can car pool. It should save us a ton on gas alone.
Thanks for all the support, and I can't say again how much of a help this forum has been. I'm sure I will have more questions about the process of surrendering the house in the coming weeks (we're moving in 3 weeks!).
Thanks!!!!
