Chapter 13 and credit report

Hey all,

Last night I had a big scare with my Father's credit report. I had filed Chapter 13 in the last week, and now there looks to be an item on his Transunion credit report for the bankruptcy. He does know that I had filed.

We live at the same address, and we have similiar sounding names.

I am currently trying to contact my attorney to see what caused my bankruptcy to show up on his report.

Has anyone seen something like this happen? Any suggestions or helpful info?

The first step would be just to have your father dispute the entry as "not mine" on his credit report. It may or may not take care of the problem. But if it doesn't you can take the necessary steps at that time.

I also did a quick check on PACER since I had the case number. The filing had only middle and last names, which coincidently is my dad's info.
