Am I the only one that finds being in a chapter 13 pretty stress free?

There were a couple of times early on in my Chpt. 13 that I had a stressful time. That was mostly when I lost a job, but then I found another one almost immediately.

There was some relief - as I knew that I could work a minimum wage job and make my payments. Fortunately I started finding work in my field.

The problems I am finding out now, are AFTER the discharge. And right now, I'm REALLY regretting having filed. I wish I hadn't. I go through this, back and forth. But right now I'm really wishing I hadn't filed.

What type of problems are you finding after discharge of your 13. Can you elaborate?

You can't have your cake and eat it too. But you can dip your finger in the bowl and lick the icing

Getting credit. I applied at supposedly "BK Friendly" Capital One. I got rejected. So, really, it's just "a" problem as this is my first (and so far only) application for credit after being discharged in November.

I'm afraid to try again, and am pretty much giving up hope of even being able to buy a house ever.

Can't speak from personal experience, as I'm still smack in the middle of a 60 mos plan. However, I know I've done a lot of reading on these forums about re-establishing credit, and everyone says to clean up your credit reports first before applying, as there can be a lot of inaccurate reporting - preventing you from obtaining credit.

Have you pulled your credit reports yet to review them?

Yes, I have. Back in January. They're actually not messy at all. I paid for those reports from myFico.com.

Good thing about this rejection is that I'll be able to get a free credit report.

You should have no problem getting an FHA mortgage either. How is your debt to income now? That's what they look at. As far as credit goes, you should be clean 2 years after discharge but why don't you try first premier bank or one of those to rebuild? Or even a prepaid card that reports to the credit agencies? Why are you looking to get back into credit card debt again?

Applying for and having credit and/or credit cards does not automatically mean getting back into credit card debt. Assumptions aren't always correct.
                Filed 07/07, $120k unsecured debt
Plan: $400 (includes cram down) 60 months
Brilliant attorney, decent trustee, awesome plan

I am 4 months away from being done with my Chapter 13.

It has been tight numerous times throughout the 3 year life of the bankruptcy.

Last year, $750 repair on the family vehicle caused us, my family, to yo-yo back and forth between being late on mortgage payment to being late on bills such as electric.

Include with that the birth of a son, a reduction in income of about $300/month and you have for a very stressful time, moneywise that is.

We did have a Relief From Stay from the mortgage company filed against us due to being behind on payments, but we became current within a month (about 1 month before the hearing that occurred due to my Objection to Relief From Stay and with a mortgage payment filed on time) and everything worked out.

                  Stressfree? No.

                  Better than before ... yes.

                      Why are you feeling that?
