Yes, I believe so. I was told that ANY money coming in is "income". My VA disability is used as part as my imcome. It's not a whole lot of money so I don't think it will change anything. Then again.....today at our finance education class we were told that if it's less them 10% of our total income then you don't have to report it.
I hope some others have a more clear answer for you.

I would double check, I don't think money coming in for your son is income. SSI payments are exempt unless that is your only income, I think your son's ssi is safe, it is exempt and used for his medical treatment and his care, they can't take from that.Success is reachable, stretch out your arm and grab it.

I will be in the same boat
My son has Asperger's (Autistic spectrum disorder) and we are in the process of applying for SSI and other grants. However, what small amount of money we do receive is nothing in compare to the money we put out for medical costs and therapy.
Let us know how it turns out for you. Bankruptcy and having a special needs child can really make you feel overwhelmed. I know I am. We are just now getting more services for my son and the whole process of diagnosis, treatment, and going through the maze of parenting is something my husband and I are struggling with right now.
Good luck to you.
