My husband filed chapter 13 alone in 2004. I filed chapter 7 in 2002. I need to start rebuilding my credit. Is this going to be a problem with his 13 since I am not on it? How does that work? Thanks for your help.

About rebuilding your credit....have you been living a cash-only lifestyle for the last five years? If you already have a credit card and have been paying it off on time, then you've already done a great deal to rebuild your credit.
Start by requesting your *free* once-a-year credit report from the "big three" credit agencies, Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion, at https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp Look to see how your credit report is showing each account.
Here are a few excellent websites that explain how to correct your credit reports -

Best of luck with your rebuilding! Please do come back and share how things are going for you.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

The thing that I am worried about is that they did ask about my income etc. for him but I am no where listed on his bk. I think that was just for the means test? I did get a cap one cc recently and have been paying it on time every month. We are going to turn in our vehicle(over 200,000 miles and gas guzzler) that is in the chap 13 so that we can get out early and I have been getting letters from cap one that I am approved for financing through them and wonder if I should wait until he is out of the chapter 13 or just go ahead and do it or would that look bad for him or is that just for me? Help, help, help. I hope that wasnt' too confusing. If we turn the vehicle over we only have about 7 months left.
