We can't get anyone to rent to us, even with a cosigner.Did anyone else have this problem? what do you recommend? Appt living is not an option, have 3 kids and 2 dogs. What can we do? attorney was surprised we were having such a hard time but he had no suggestions....

I can only suggest you RENT someone elses house, or townhouse if you cannot rent an apartment ??? Why don't you go on www.craigslist.com to see what may be available for your area.

    Best of Luck, CMIYC

As you look at houses/condo's to rent, feel out the Landlord on their Credit check policies.

What worked for us was to be kinda, sorta honest with the Landlord up front.

Hubby had lost his job. Found a new position out of State. We had to move and couldn't sell our house. We told Landlords our house was in Foreclosure. We didn't tell Landlords we were about to file BK.

One guy seemed understanding but handed us a very detailed Credit Check form for us to sign. No way we could pass the Credit Check if he really followed thru so we didn't even bother with that place.

The people we rented from,........ The Landlord's wife was/is the Leasing agent. She's a Realtor and is all too familiar with Foreclosure. She didn't have a problem with our house being in Foreclosure and rented to us anyway. We've been here over a year now.

Yes, renting a home from a private owner is much easier. We rented a home from a realtor and he did no credit check, hopefully, things will improve we will purchase this home in a couple of years. Looking on craigslist and www.rentclicks.com is a great start. Also, when looking in craigslist put no credit check in the search section. www.homerentalads.com is great because they are private owners renting their homes out.

          Another thought for you too,.............

          Drive around.

I know gas is high, but as you go to look at one place, look around the neighboring streets.

Some Landlords don't advertise in the newspaper, or on Craig's List, or other similar ad places. Our Landlord doesn't. When they have unit coming available, our Landlord puts out a sign with a flyer box.

So drive around as you look at other prospects. That's how we got this place. We came to the area to look at another home for rent. Wound up checking out neighboring streets and found this place.
