    One more question

My husband & I going tomorrow @ 2:00 to sign the paperwork to file Chapter 13, my attorney stated that we would have a docket/suit number immediately, to stop reposession of vehicle, but I've been reading some of the post & my question is when will we be required to take the credit couseling class?

You need to take the class before filing. Call your lawyer. Perhaps that is part of the plan for tomarrrow at 2:00. If it's not I'm sure he can direct you to a local court approved class so you can get it done ASAP.
    Filed: 10/26/2006
    Discharged: 03/05/2007
Closed: 5/19/2008 - Asset case due to balance transfer and income tax refund

You can complete one online. The problem there is that it takes time to have the certificate mailed to you.

I just called attorney's office & they said it wasn't effective in our state yet, so I didn't need to worry about it. Thank God

Bk filers can file some of their bk forms to start the bankruptcy then complete the filing by completing the rest of the required forms within 15 days. Now some states (Louisiana is one of them) allow filers to complete their required bankruptcy certificate within 15 days of filing as well. If it's not an emergency filing to stop a foreclosure or repossession, it's still best to do it ahead of time just to be sure there's no last-minute problems.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

I "completed" the required counseling at the attorney's office via computer the day I first talked to the attorney. He brought the papers for me to see, left the room and reappeared with a certificate of sorts suitable for filing. I received the real certificate a few weeks later from CCCS in Atlanta.

The required class was given by our local trustee's reps in the afternoon following the 341 meeting. Each district is different, but the Fort Worth trustee also holds the same class for his district.
I used to have a life, now I have grandkids.

I love that area...I'll be that way next week for work. I'm over north of lake charles. My husband is in the Army, but this is like our home. We've spent several year out of his career. When we leave, we always get sent back
