    I called the attorney today to talk payment

    I called the attorney today to talk payment, and I agreed to pay him his 14k but he said I owe him $22k, for interest and his time, what the hell??? can anyone tell me what I can do now? I told him its 14k or 5 yrs of ch 13 payments he said he would get back to me......ugggg! Im being bambozzled by this lawyer. Please suggest something if you know how to handle this. thanks

          Demand that he validate the debt.

          Also, do you still have a copy of the original bill/invoice.

                You really don't want to file bk for 14k or even 22k of debt when you obviously have enough assets to cover it. Can you get a loan against the property to settle the debt with the attorney? If it is worth as much as you say, then that shouldn't be a problem.

                From what I'm readying, you have a problem with an attorney, not a problem being insolvent or bankrupt. I wouldn't think of going through the hell of a chapter 13 for this.

                  I tried and cannot get a loan.

                  My credit rating isnt good enough to refinance a commercial property, commercial property loans are very hard to get unlike residential, Ive tried lenders are not interested in commercial.

                        Selling property

                        I have been trying to sell the property, no buyers, I have tried to rent the property no takers, I have even annouced that I would hold private mort on it, no bites. Any suggestions?

                          Are you trying to sell it on your own, or do you have a commercial real estate agent involved? You may have the property priced too high for the current market. I would, if you haven't already, gotten a professional involved in the sale of the property.

                          Bankruptcy should be a last resort.
