hello everyone,i'm new here and need your feedback please. i'm taking this friday off to turn in my paper work and cash to file a chapter 13. i have really been on edge the last few months and the stress is really been getting to me. i havent told anyone in my family yet what i'm up but thinking about letting a few of them know after i file. i'm a single dad with two boys and taking care of my parents as well (they live with me). all my family and friends think i have it together but boy if they only knew. however the creditors are calling now and i called my phone company to have my number change but that wont happen until 3 to 5 days. after i turn in my paper work and money on friday do i need to contact creditors and let them know i've file? some of them i told but they wasnt hearing it until i've filed. my monthly bills were really way over my head and i have no one to help me out i didnt know what else to do especially after being turn down for a refi. what should i do between now and friday? and after i turn in my paperwork and money to the lawer then what? any feed back would help everyone, i really have no one to talk to and i found this site at work last night. thanks so much guys

Since you know for sure, for sure that you're filing and it will be within days, give the Creditors your attny's name and contact info. Let the attny field the Creditors for you. Many Creditors will not contact you again once they have your attny's contact info. Some Creditors will continue to call you until you actually file.

Once you do actually file, the Creditor's calls will stop. You may get a few at first as it can take up to a couple of weeks for all your Creditors to receive notice you've filed. But the calls will stop soon after you officially file.

If you still have access to your creditors On Line, than change your phone numbers to your lawyers numbers. (that is if you ever used the internet to connect with your creditors.

No, Don't give them time to react. But like "sinker," said the calls will drop off eventually once they know you've filed, one thing that may be annoying is you might continually get their paper statements, but that too should dwindle.
