I agree. He wants to triple our monthly payment which would ensure his clients would get close to 40%. I'm not sure just how much medical care (gyno, dental, PT, Chiro ,etc.) I would have to do with out as a outcome, but maybe having less food would result in an unexpected bonus :I would lose weight with out having access to a gym!
You never realize how good your life once was, until some one can take medical treatment options away by setting your mandatory payment so high you have to choose between food or a chiropractic treatment, for example because your particular condition is not life threatening at the moment. And even after you use all your monthly elective expenses (entertainment, clothes, home and car repairs, etc. ) one medical bill may exceed all your allowances. And of course the trustee will never allow any contributions to the HSA because this reduces our tax burden, effectively lowering how much he can legally take away monthly . My husband will only bring home a little less than $2600 in his next bi-weekly check (after we lowered the tax allowances to 2 from last years 5 to reduce our burden) and with a very high mortgage payment
($2150) and very low car payment( $197) as well as solar panel lease( $80), water ,gas electricity about $100? ), cell phones (still $150), internet ($50) Sling TV( $45), and what we are allowed for food ,medical ($110 for two) $100 for pets, I believe $1000 is a very high demand but as Jason says, we will have to wait and see if the lawyer can negotiate any wiggle room where these ongoing medical bills are concerned.
I know many will say this is the way it should be, since any DMI is forever forbidden ,but it doesn't make it any easier or good for your health, while you are trying to live through medical deprivations which could cost you your life down the road! It could be that serious.
I know I must give up all hope of a fair settlement, and just prepare for an awful 5 + years, like many on these forums.
