Almost discharged..... Trustee's Motion for Approval of Report

    Hey gang,

After 5 years and 3 months and $255,000 I am almost at the end of my journey. The trustee and secured creditors quickly responded and the motion to discharge was entered 0n 3/31. Andddd then it appears to slow down. The Judge in our district scheduled the hearing for 05/24. Is this length of time from motion for discharge typical ? It states if that if creditors don't respond in a timely manner that the discharge order may be automatic. Still, the order states responses must be received by 05/15. I'm impatient ..... I would like to be normal so I can actually talk to my various banks without my lawyer and trustee doing it for me as well as getting my credit record cleaned up. I have done pretty well for myself in five years landing an executive position but would at least be able to look at other opportunities with this out of the way.

It seems like that normal. In some districts, the debtor (or their attorney) moves for discharge. There are some districts that give 60 days between the filing of the notice that a discharge will be entered, and the actual discharge being entered.

Think of it like the 60 days that the Chapter 7 people wait. You're in a pending bankruptcy until you completed the plan. Then the 60 days starts. At least that's how I think of it.
    Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10

I guess you are right. One would think that after five years with a fully paid plan that it would move a little faster. Its that darn reality thing...
