    Discharged 13, anyone denied employment?

I have potential good job offers after getting laid off. of course my discharge and last day of employment coincided. My scores are in the mid 600's. Curious if anyone has lost an opportunity due to a discharged 13? None finance civilian job.

My personal experience reveals 0 issues. I have renewed a security clearance (Federal) and complete background check (for sensitive non-sworn law enforcement). Most employers perform only a (Florida) level 1 background check and don't go the same extent as the clearances I hold (or have held). For a typical employment background check (Florida level-1 equivalent) they are just looking to see that you have no criminal history that would prevent you from being hired. They may also review your "consumer" credit report to check for tax liens and other judgments. (In Florida, a level 1 background check includes a review of the sex offender records.)

If they are taking your fingerprints, then it's beyond a typical investigation. All of my background checks included fingerprints but I have worked in the DoD, DoE, Financial Services, a police department, and other federal agencies. A job in financial services or one having some fiduciary responsibility may require the more stringent background investigation.

No Livescan or fingerprints. Just stated employment, consumer report, and background. They told me they are very strict with whom they bring aboard. Hate to have come this far to fall back.

Well, keep your Chin Up. Completing a Chapter 13 and having no debt is better than having judgments, horrendous credit, collections, and serious criminal offenses (or even a considerable amount of parking tickets) on your record. (Funny thing, when the P.D. ran my background they were interested to know why I had 0 traffic or parking tickets. Well, because I don't park or drive in an irresponsible way, sir. I just thought that was odd checking down to the parking ticket level.)

So long as you don't have any sort of criminal history (and/or didn't lie about not having one and they find an old misdemeanor from that bar fight back in 1985 when you may have punched another drunk) or a horrendous display of irresponsibility (many unpaid collections, judgments, tax liens, etc), I don't think it will matter. They should be only looking at your general character.
