    Discharge Timing

Here we are, halfway over the last hurdle, and I'm still sweating bullets. Next week, the 14-day objection window will close on our application for discharge. The trustee is done with us (sent a nice congratulatory email, in fact), so once May 17 hits, we're just waiting for the court to issue the discharge.

Does anyone happen to know how long it typically takes for that to happen? All the filings are done. I'm in the Central District of California (Santa Ana court).

Those champagne corks are practically trembling, we're so close.

    Thanks,
    Doug

It does vary by court, but you should get your discharge pretty quickly after that 14 days ends. You should have no reason to sweat. At this point, objections can be based only on the declarations you filed after completing your plan. For instance, an ex spouse could object if you aren't current on support payments. You'll be popping that cork soon.

What is the 14 day discharge objection? where can I learn about this? My attorney didn't tell me anything? I contacted her when I noticed I was "ready for completion audit" she said 600 payments. I am in Cincinnati Ohio. Thanks

The 14 days really is nothing to worry about unless you are late on domestic support obligations or there is something else wrong with the declarations you sign after making your final payment. Just make sure those forms are accurate.

The objection window has closed for me. I'll be obsessively checking PACER, so we can finally get out of our absurdly high

dddougggg, don't stress checking PACER frequently . I did that for 2 months after my last payment in December 2015 but now I check once a week. NDC shows status: JCompleted-Pending FRA. I called my trustee, she said my plan is complete and just to wait for the court to finish the discharge final papers. For some States might take 30-60 days for discharge, some 120-180. Apparently, Florida is taking longer than expected for me but I don't intent to lose any sleep over this. The discharge papers eventually will come in the meantime I'm enjoying the extra cash not going to the trustee anymore.
