    Freedom Debt Relief

I've been sending these people 300$ a month for a year. They have negotiated with one of my 4 cards and they are making payments to that one. They also took over 1500$ for their payment for reaching this one negotiation. In the meantime since I've not made payments to credit cards in over a year I received a letter to come to the sheriff to pick up a summons. It was from my discover card. It isn't a summons to court just to contact their lawyer to pay them the $2500 I owe. Now I still have 2 cards that freedom is not negotiating with because since they took their 1500$ up front the 300$ I'm sending them is going to the one they have reached an agreement with so they have nothing in my account to use right now. I'm afraid these other two will also take me to court before negotiations are started. Have any of you ever dealt with this company? Background history. Husband and I filed a 7 in 1999 after hubby had a heart attack. I was stupid and filed a 13 in 2003 swearing I'd never owe another credit card. These companies send you cards without even applying so now I'm head over heels again. I also have about 17,000$ in cc debt in hubbys name that he has no idea about. Hubby will NEVER file again. Any advise other than suicide?

    Sorry the 13 was 2005 not 2003.

I do understand that some of the debt management companies actually help, but this seems an extreme case of an absolutely waste of money. I would have filed Chapter 7 (or Chapter 13), and get a guaranteed outcome.

I don't know what else to say. I avoid debt management companies, that charge a fee or take their fee from your payments, like the plague.

Advice? File bankruptcy. Just deal with it and don't waste money on the management companies. You wasted $5,100, are still paying $300 a month, and haven't truly "settled" your debt.
      Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)

Well, i would agree to just file again but I think you first need to get a grip on living without any credit cards or you will be right back here again. What really bothers me is the part your hubby doesn't know about. That speaks volumes to me that you have lots of work to work through before you file again. My personal opinion but we have seen this here a time or two before. Good luck to you.
