Received my BK13 Form 3180W Discharge papers now its to go house searching! Advise?

I was told to wait between 30-90 by Price law Group for the creditors to update my info and for my score to go up and for me to run a credit score check. I know it already front from a very low 615 to 650 average. I have/had a total of 3 credit cards before getting discharged (Yes, I know but my realtor strong suggested it though) with small limits which i believe helped me out tremendously before hand.

Now it's onto house searching, BUT from my understanding FHA is the only way to go for now then after 2 years I'm good to go on a conventional home loan, which is what I need and want.

Additionally my attorney is telling me 13 will stay on my credit score for 10 years... I thought it was 7?

A Chapter 13 is definitely only 7 years.

    Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10

That's what I thought. But according to the net, usually it will drop off your credit report after 7 yrs but could be as long as 10 yrs all from the time you filed.

I must inform you to not believe anything that you read on the Internet unless it comes from the proverbial horses mouth (or a reliable source).

FICO (the DEFINITIVE source): 7 years (http://www.myfico.com/crediteducatio...pter-7-13.aspx)

        Experian: 7 years (http://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-ex...emain-7-years/)

Equifax: 7 years (although the FCRA allows 10 years) (http://blog.equifax.com/credit/the-s...er-bankruptcy/)

Trans Union: 7 years (for a discharged or dismissed Chapter 13 OR ANY voluntarily dismissed chapter of bankruptcy) (https://www.transunion.com/resources...editReport.pdf)

All of these dates are from the time of filing.

The 7 year removal is the ONLY benefit they give Chapter 13 v. Chapter 7 filers. A 7 will typically stay on there for 10 years from date of filing.

Nothing wrong with going FHA and then refinancing conventional when you're ready! Sometimes a web search for lenders who help people out of chapter 13 pulls up some good results. I know there are a few out there who are really helpful, just have to do your homework. Make sure they're established and have experience with bk discharge population. Good luck!
