Refi mortgage found a secure credit card

Hi everyone it's been a while since I have posted. I was discharged last October. It was challenge but we made it!!! Now for my problem I am refinancing my mortgage. The mortgage company notified me that there is a Chase credit card that is listed as a debt. In our chapter 13 it was listed as a secure debt because it was in civil litigation. I called Chase they said the card was now owned by a company called B-Line located in Washington state. Spoke to their rep I was told that are a third party that acquires debt. They told me to send my chap 13 info and they would research it. Is this common??!!

Thanks for all your help joekel

joekel congratulations again. It is very common to exit a Chapter 13 and have bad data in your credit profile. Chapter 13 debtors probably spend 6 months, after discharge, getting their credit reports cleaned up. We always recommend that debtors forward a copy of the discharge order to any creditors that are not reporting the debt correctly. I also warn them that their failure to immediately take action will be considered as a willful act in violation of the automatic stay and/or permanent discharge injunction. That wording typically gets them motivated to immediately correct the credit reporting issue.

It's is very unfortunate that we must spend our time cleaning up the credit report, but it is certainly worth it.

    Best of luck to you.

joekel you should take all steps necessary to clean up any credit or any civil case that was discharged by the bankruptcy. It is sad that we must go and do all this extra work. There are just some creditors that don't care.
