Chapter 13 Discharge and Auto Applications

Hi All. I've been stalking this website checking out information about the discharge process/length of time, etc for Chapter 13. After 5 years I'm happy to say that as of 8-27 it's over! Yay! Now come the long wait to get discharged. Boo! Any who, I understand that it's going to take awhile to get the ball rolling for my discharge papers, but I need a car ASAP. I live in Michigan and "Winter is coming" and my poor Grand Prix can't take one more winter. So, my question is will I be able to obtain an auto loan even though I'm done with the BK but not discharged? I was pre-approved for a $42,000 (not that I need that much) auto loan but I didn't go any further and it has since expired and I didn't want to waste time going to the dealer if I couldn't get "the precious". Is it worth my time to go to the dealership even though Pacer shows NOTHING since June 2015? Or should I wait until Pacer is updated? The NDC shows the BK closed on 8-31 but I have no idea if a printout of that would suffice. Any information would be helpful.

You will still need a letter from the trustee to purchase a car.The max amount is 18,000 I know because I've been waiting on my discharge sent june

GeeBee says it's over as of 8/27, so I assume that is the date of the last payment. June is the last entry in PACER and we don't know what that is.

dron is right, until you are discharged, you will need trustee approval for a loan. It should be easy to get. If you don't get trustee approval, then you have to wait until PACER shows a discharge.

The closed in NDC refers to the trustee's file, not the BK case. But, the fact that the trustee showed it closed so quickly is a good sign.

Thanks all for responding!!! I just got my "this will happen during the next 20 weeks letter" and decided to wait until I get my discharged. The most important thing is that they have stopped deducting from my paycheck. After 5 years, what's 20 weeks. Brian maybe I will be shocked too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!! LOL By the way this is the update in Pacer: Ntc of Completion of Plan/Ntc of Final Cure Mortgage with Certificate of Service.
