Why would he show up? It can't be very good news to see him there!

Why do you say? The trustee representative presided over our 341 and she was brutal to any attorney that was not prepared. She was actually determined to make sure the BK's that were filed would be successful. She even fined an attorney for lack of preparing properly and awarded it to their clients. It was refreshing to see that she was there to make sure you, the client, did not waste your money on a poor attorney.
Once we walked up from swear in to "thank you, goodbye" I think the minute hand on the clock may have moved, but I still say it didn't.
