Wow what a morning!!
I got to the meeting an hour early so I could see a few cases before mine. The first few cases went smooth - routine questions asked then they were dismissed. The trustee was very nice and social.
Then came a couple about mid 30's. Trustee asked the standard questions then she asked about their bank accounts and why they had over 5k in savings at the time of filing. Their attorney responded well they quit paying their bills and that's what they saved....ouch! Trustee said she wanted complete banking records and she will decide later....
Next couple up was an older couple about 60's with the same lawyer. Their meeting took 20 mins! They had some rental properties and a business that they listed as 0 assets. Trustee stated I've seen your tax returns and the business is bring in income. He also had a partnership with someone else not listed in their petition. Then she asked about their 2 - 09 cars that are paid for. She asked if there are any liens and they replied that they borrowed 30K from a family member (which was not listed as a creditor) and they put a lien on the cars in June. Wow trustee was NOT happy. So their case was continued. So glad I didn't have this attorney.
Then there were a few people who no-show! WOW I couldn't believe that either.
My attorney arrived (on time)
and we were next. Trustee was very nice, asked the standard questions and we were done. Not kidding - 2 mins or less.
My attorney said I should be receiving the money that was garnished back soon and that was it!
