My 341 is tomorrow; my sister's, too! What to wear?

Even though my sister filed after I did, we managed to wind up with our 341s on the same day. I'm in the first group, she's in the last LOL. She is coming with me to mine and vice versa; moral support and all that.

I'm a little nervous; mostly I just want this step over with. I checked PACER last night to see if any creditor had filed anything and my heart jumped when I saw something dated 7/26 -- but it was just my post-filing certificate being entered

I don't know what to wear. It's summer and I get hot easily, so long pants are out (not that I have any good ones, they are all well-worn, not to mention cat hair magnets no matter what I do). I got a decent shirt on sale Monday, which will pair nicely with either a skirt I have or dress shorts. When I say dress shorts I mean ones that are a good fabric and come to the knee, have cuffs, etc. Truly *nice*, not every day wear. Would those be okay, you think? The skirt would work too but honestly I would feel over-dressed I think. I want to look nice but not dressy. Maybe I'll post a link to pics with both outfits and get a vote LOL.

Your dress shorts sound fine, NewPage. You gotta love NW Casual.

Good luck! I will be thinking of you!!

This is a quick outfit try-on; disregard the goofy stance & lack of appropriate undergarments LOL. I tried on the skirt too but it's one of those that are "twirly" at the bottom and I really felt over-done in it, so I think these? You can't see my shoes, but they are sandals with a slight chunky heel and large straps/open toe.

Thanks for the replies and encouragement

I wore capris, shirt and sandals and my husband wore jeans and a polo. Your shorts will be fine. : )

Thank you :-) I was so happy -- it was only $12.50 at Lane Bryant, which is a steal for their stuff!

I would wear long pants. Unfortunately any kind of short pants does not do a person well in a business environment, from what I have seen.

I saw everything and anything at mine. The trustee barely looked at anyone, just sat ya down, ask his questions and you were outta there!

Your outfit looks fine, love the top!

Good luck and be sure to post about it!!!

I would only be careful with what jewelry you are wearing. A wedding ring/band is fine. Don't wear your Rolex and 18" platinum chain with 2ct diamond pendant to the 341 Meeting. The dress for the 341 Meeting is always business casual, although you'll see a range of attire. If the 341 Meeting is inside the "secure" area of a U.S. Federal Courthouse, there could be other restrictions for entering the courthouse. I would make sure I understood where the meeting was being held and the building's entry requirements.

Many of these in Florida are in U.S. District Courthouse buildings and you can't bring in cellular phones or cameras, or even computers in some cases.

Okay, I stuck with that outfit; the only jewelry I wore were some small "gold" hoops -- ie cheapie earrings that were probably part of a set of 3 pairs for $6 :-P I was more formally dressed than the trustee's secretary! A local (male) attorney was there in sandals! Other people had on jeans, etc. I would say I was the dressiest, in my group and the one that followed.

I left my cell phone in the van, and I had my sister hold my keys so I didn't drop them on the table by accident and make a huge noise.

Had a momentary panic when he asked me to raise my right hand LOL -- "Which is my right?!" I thought to myself. Dork.

Took about 5 minutes I guess. Asked standard questions. I only flubbed when he asked if I/we were owed state/fed tax refunds at the time of filing. At first I said yes, then I corrected myself and said that we were not owed them but had already received them. He asked how I arrived at the value of the house; I told him it was the assessed value but we believed it would not sell for that much. He asked how much we would list it for if it were listed today, and I told him $100k.

Asked my attorney after the fact if I was "okay". He said it went fine. I have been nervous about the tax refunds being an issue, but my attorney said that he usually gets an indication in the 341 if the trustee thinks there is an asset to pursue, and that he did not get such an indication with me. Here's hoping!

I did not have my statements from the filing date with me. That was an oops, however when I asked the paralegal if I needed to take anything, she said no, that she would send everything over to the trustee about a week before the 341. On Tuesday (2 days ago) she called and asked me for bank statements covering the filing date, and our 2009 tax returns. I emailed all that to her, but it was not in my file that the attorney had. I told him that I'd emailed them at her request, and he said "I believe you. I'm going to see if (the trustee) has them, and if not I'm going to call and yell at L___." But the trustee did have them, so she didn't get yelled at :-P All I took with me was my SS Card and my license, specifically because she had said I didn't need to take anything. If I had it to do over I would take everything!

So, now we wait, eh? I'm going back with my sister at 2:30. I said to my attorney -- "I bet you'll be glad to be rid of me; I'm kind of a pest." He laughed and said no, that he likes it when clients ask questions because it means they are paying attention, and that it prevented surprises. So that was cool. I'm glad now that I went with him, though I think his para needs a little push to communicate better.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice and support here!
