Everything went ok. I filed pro-se so I had to wait until all the attorneys with clients went. The trustee swore me in and checked my ID and SS card. She asked if I had filed any previous BK, No--Was I currently employed, and where and how much did I earn. Was I married?--Did I list all debts in BK, yes--was I surrendering or keeping my vehicles and did I think I could afford the payment.--What circumstances led me to BK--down economy lost job new job lower pay--Was I married, yes--Why did wife and I file separate tax returns, my wife just moved to this country and had no income in US but had to file a foreign tax return we will file jointly next year--
That was it. She asked if anyone assisted me on my BK, no and complimented me on being organized.
The biggest thing I noticed from watching 10 people before me was that most were not organized or had not submitted the correct documents. One man had not filed a tax return since 2001 but testified that he had income since that time. Another lady had been recently divorced but did not provide any documentation as to split of marital assets or family home or husbands pension. Missing tax returns, pay stubs, divorce papers failure to include child support or disability payments in schedules etc etc etc--all these people had counsel too.
