Well I got there over a half hour early, a paralegal was there to go over a few things with me and I watched many people go up before me. Every person was asked the very same questions except where there were differing circumstances. My attorney was handling the bulk of the cases there, there was at least one other attorney with a client. Nobody was pro se. No creditors were present. Each meeting was just about 5 minutes or less. Wasn't bad at all. No unexpected questions, nothing I didn't have a clear answer to (which usually consisted of either a yes or a no), nothing I wasn't prepared for. I had a 2 inch thick file with me with paperwork I thought they might request, but nothing was requested but my driver's license and social security card for identification. Basically it seemed like the whole thing was just an affirmation that I swear that my papers filed are correct and that I understood what I was doing.
What was interesting was seeing the other people in there. Everyone has a story. There was an elderly woman there who had too many medical bills, a gentleman who had lost his job, etc. People from all walks of life, each with their own unique circumstances that brought them to where they were. I think the moral of the whole story here is not to rush to judge anyone, as you have no idea what has went down in their life. Hard times can fall on anyone.
It must be PAINFULLY boring for the attorneys to sit around for hours and do this for dozens of clients, but I guess that's part of the job. Anyway I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing snags things up but my attorney seemed pretty confident that everything is on track. I wasn't expecting it to be bad but I was worried about any curve balls. Load off my mind for sure.
